Dear Rae Jewelry

OOOH Pretty...

I first stumbled upon this little designer at the Design Indaba this year. I absolutely love the feminine and delicate nature of her jewelry. She is based in Cape Town and has stockists mostly in Cape Town, and in Melville Johannesburg. This would make a really nice gift Im thinking, hint hint nudge nudge. She has lots to choose from, Dear Rae. Happy shopping.

Chic Revolution

From humble beginnings in the Eastern Cape this store speaks to the heart with a vintage, yet rural feel you can find every thing from screen printed tea towels and cheese boards to SA brand products, please go check out her website here.

Chilli corn bread in a jar

Who doesn't like eating out of a jar with a ribbon around it...

What a great party idea simple and so easy to make. I absolutely love the jars, not sure where you would be able to find some thing quite as pretty as these little jars but i think some recycled jars with a little bit of ribbon would do just the trick. Another idea would be to find a glass blower or manufacturer in your area and you could have your family name embossed on the glass if you live in South Africa here is a contact for a glass blower Im sure they would be able to assist you.

Here is the recipe for dawns cornbread.

You could also do a BBQ in a jar  with a side of lemonade.
I don't eat pork but if you do you can find the recipe here.
The trick is to be creative Im thinking different coloured jelly would look amazing and so would a Strawberry Dacquiry, or a Pina Colada(my Favorite)... with an umbrella...a piece of pineapple and a.. cherry.

More macaroons

Macaroon Haunting...

How beautiful, quietly nestled in little bite size boxes, my heart bleeds custard.

Bronx Zoo

How clever is this...

This was found on ffffound.com advertising the bronx zoo.

Macaroons

Fit for a queen...

Many a bag of ground almonds have been waisted in my kitchen as a result of my obsession with these little sherbet coloured puffs of culinary perfection. There is a place in Paris called Laduree, its a patisserie/tea salon from old parisian times which are famous for making these little treasures, whats even more amazing is they come especially packaged in the most beautiful little boxes. Go have a look at their website for all the other mouth watering delights they make. This place might just be worth a special visit, i better brush up on my French.

If you would like to give it a bash at making them here is the recipe

Home is where the heart is

How blessed am I to live in such a beautiful town.

10 reasons why I love Jeffreys Bay...

  1. I love the way the the sea air curdles with the sharp green   smell of Fynbos before settling on my nose early in the morning. Its this very smell that reminds me of my Grandpa Siddy Pop when he would drive us to Jeffreys bay. I would always fall asleep at the car and remember being awakened by this smell which served as a sign that we were not far away.
  2. I love the way that Jeffreys bay is so mysterious and unpredictable, how without warning mist fills the town in seconds.
  3. I love the way that you can always expect to see dolphins surfing the waves, because 8 times out of 10 you'll find them, and can be even lucky enough to be in the water with them.
  4. I love the fact that the sun nearly always shines.
  5. I love all the beaches and watching the children playing in the rock pools on the weekends.
  6. I love that that there is always someone from a foreign land to meet and greet
  7. I love that everyone surfs after work.
  8. I love that there is no traffic, and general cruising speed is 60 unless you get stuck behind the ginseng violet brigade after a day at the salon.
  9. I love the humble nature of the town and how accepting it is of everyone no matter how different you think you are, you don't have to compete for space.
  10. I love the raw natural beauty it offers from the formations of the sand dunes to how when the wind blows you sometimes can not possibly tell which direction it is coming from, leaving you feeling like you are levitating.

Welcome

Hi

So here I am finally up and running sharing inspiring artifacts from daily life. I sometimes find myself hyperventilating at the beauty this world, what it has to offer, its creative people, some things lost and some things found. I think by sharing it, it wont get lost and explode in my mind, and make me hyperventilate.

Loads of living and loving.
